With a sharp curette, the uterine cavity seemed to be empty;'" The report said that a #12 vacurette was used, but this was changed to a #8. The report then said that "cervix was dilated up to" followed by an illegible entry later changed to another illegible entry. Valerie experienced continued pain and bleeding. On July 14 Valerie reported to Detroit Macomb Hospital/Detroit Memorial Hospital, where she was treated by Dr. Chen and Dr. A. Hodari (possibly Abraham Hodari). Valerie had low blood pressure, low white and red blood count, and low temperature. A left adnexal mass noted, and an incorrect diagnosis of endometritis made. Valerie was discharged on July 17. On August 4, Valerie returned to the hospital, and her condition was assessed as a possible infection. She was again admitted to the defendant hospital August 15, with an admitting diagnosis of chronic pelvic congestion. On August 16, Valerie was finally discovered to have a left ectopic pregnancy.
